Unhappy Just great..Citation & Fix-It Ticket

My brother just got pulled over about 45 minutes ago. Since I know my brother and how he drives, it's my belief he was doing the speed limit. I don't believe he was driving to the point where the exhaust was wide open being exceptionally loud. He's a very good driver, no tickets or accidents. He rarely speeds. He's studying at the University so I figured I would save some time and post on here for him.

Cop pulls him over and gives him a $70 citation as well as a fix-it ticket for his exhaust. The cop was going to bust him for tint but since he was honest about it, he let that go.

The $70 citation isn't a big deal. However, we are not very familiar with fix-it tickets and heard there are possible "ways around it"...Anyone care to elaborate on that? I have no clue what he plans on doing, he may just say forget it and buy a used stocker. Of course that's excluding the fact that if that cop ever saw his GG Evo IX with tinted windows and exhaust, he's in even more trouble than before.

Your thoughts?

Thanks guys,
Randy

I had a cop pull me over for no front plate in williamsburg. Was foing to give me a ticket but showed her I just ordered a new set of plates. Also tried to get me for aftermarket exhaust, simply told her I bought it that way.
For the future, they've got diffusers. Not sure how much it helps tho myself.
In most states if u modify the exhaust at all, its illegal.

If it works The same way it does in NY, all you have to do is get a receipt saying it was fixed and send it in with the ticket not guilty

Was this in MD? What was the $70 citation for? Speeding? Not that it matters, just curious. The best thing you can do is put the stock cat/muffler back on, go to the State Police station and have them sign off on the ticket.

^ what he said. put stock one back on, get the ticket cleared off, and maybe get a high flow cat instead of testpipe if he has one.

That won't help the fix it ticket. The officer will still see it's an aftermarket exhaust. In MD, the code states you can't modify the exhaust system in any way.

I thought in MD you couldn't modify the exhaust system in a way that will make it louder than it was when originally manufactured

Wow, I have never heard of a fix-it ticket. Closest thing ive heard is up here in WA, law says that officers can make you scrape the tint off your windows if its too dark.

Yea, the law states that the exhaust can not be modified in any way. I've had the run in with this also. I took pictures of the aftermarket while it was on my car and took it to court with me ( I got an actual citation not a fix it ticket) and they had no clue what they were even looking at.

Run a stock exhaust with an external WG. Problem fixed and the exhaust can open up when he needs the power. Stealth.
