ETS intercooler fitment questions

Hello all,

I'm having issues putting my bumper back into place as the ets intercooler (3.5 inch core) I bought for my evo 8 as it is not fitting properly. I already cut the little mesh part on the front bumper and the metal piece that holds the bolt to where the crash beam is inserted into. For some reason, it is still rubbing.. I did not that I had to modify the evo 8 front bumper this much to fit the standard evo 8 tank on. Did everybody else with the ets intercooler have to modify their front evo 8 bumper? If so could you give me some advice and how to make my install easier please?

Mine was pretty much as much of a nightmare as something that only requires 3 bolts could ever be. Evo 9.

I know just what you mean....i had too kinda bend the side mounts on mine at the ends.then just to have a little more clearance i put a couple if washers on the crashbeam as spacers to have more space for the ic.

I have the 4 inch, had to cut the crash beam a little. I also trimmed the spacers that came with the kit to make the i/c sit back, probably trimmed them half way.

And like you say, the bumber cover is a bit of a pain, I had to cut some plastic from the bumper and install the pipes before putting the cover back on. Ended up looking really good though.

Thanks for all the feedback everybody I think I know what I have to do now. I thought I was maybe installing the intercooler wrong but I guess a lot of people had to modify their bumper in someway. I am going to grind some of the crash beam off where its rubbing against the bumper and trim the bumper this weekend.

On my VIII I had to shave down the metal bracket that holds the mesh and has the hole where the bumper bolts back on... After this no issues.

Also check your couplers. Place the bumper on before you tighten them so they are not hitting the lower section of the bumper.
