Evo stalls when heat is turn on
Evo stalls when heat is turn on
Hello everybody.
! have been searching but i haven't find any info regarding this issue.
My EVO 8 has HKS 272 cams, , LICP, Walbro, intake, tuned and i was aware of issues that the vehicle stalls when the A/C is turn on. But now here is NY is getting cold and when i turn on my heat and i get to a complete stop the car starts to die until shut off. Any body had experienced t this. It might be a tuning issues or the crankshaft sensor? Any help will be appreciated.
Regards,
Rob

The only extra load when running the heater is the blower motor and a slight
increase on the alternator. The compressor will only be engaged in defrost.
Maybe you have an electrical problem. I can understand the a/c being a problem with cams, but not the heater.

Thanks for the inpu,t recently i decided to install new gauges and i relocated the radio , maybe i didn't wire correctly my prosport gauges, i will disconnect them and see if any difference. Thanks i will contact my tuner, the issue with the a/c should it be address at the time the vehicle was tuned.

i basically have the same problem, when im backing out of the driveway or in traffic or moving slow and then stop right after accelerating i push in the clutch and brake to stop and the rpms will drop below idle and SOMETIMES not all the time the car will actually stall on me. any ideas what this could be?
After doing some more research some members had issues with the idle control valve, but the question is why is no issues when the heat is off, a soon i turned on the heat , the rpm starts to go down. So i went over and logged to the ECU ,(Thanks to Bink for all the valuable data) save my current tune on my laptop then i proceeded to change the values on the tune when the a\c is on and at idle. save a it with a different name and upload the new tune. So far is running fine but i haven't driven the car long enough , tomorrow i will have better information specially if the issue of stalling at the traffic lights is resolved, i will keep you posted.
Any updates on this? I have the same problem, it didn't start till I switched to stock ecu tune. I had a turbo xs utec which has throttle compensation adjustment.
My tuner tried a bunch of tweaks no luck. My TB seals are leaking he told me that is probably my problem.

Update.
The issue remains, the car idles great cold once it warm up following the fan kicks in and if the heat is on , same issue, the rpm goes down and stalls. heat off no issues, idles perfect with the cams at 1100 rpms.
My question is, the fan is cooling the engine, it draws power from the alternator, now turning the heat on is drawing more power but the ecu should be able to compensate and don't let the RPM's to go down. i will have to do more research in order to see if any values can be change on the ecu regarding this issue.

whats the idle set to in your rom? also might need a slight biss adjustment due to iscv calibration or possibly just iac needs retweaked to compensate for additional load.. pretty easy fix tho.
The car going lower on idle when fans kick is just the way it is, cant get rid of that, but it shouldn't be stalling!

OP I have leaking TB seals, my tuner tells me most likely that is my culprit because he has done so much tweaking with no improvement.
Are you sure your TB seals are not leaking?
My turbo seals are good , no shaft play no issues there.
now regarding the iscv tables i did changed some to 1102 they were lower. i have to check if i changed all of them maybe that will do the trick .
thanks so much for the input !

Not turbo seals, throttle body shaft seals are they good?
