05 evo starter solenoid, same as regular lancer?

Hey, I have been having problems with the car not wanting to start, or it will turn over really slow and start. Its not the battery, ground looks good. I think it must be the starter solenoid. Is the regular lancer solenoid the same as the evo starter solenoid? And does anyone have any part #'s or anything to help me find one locally? Thanks,

call your mitsu dealer and have them compare part numbers. I'd have to guess and say they would be of different sizes.

This past weekend my starter went out as well. it starts up fine when i have 2 people push me backwards and i drop the clutch in reverse so i know its not the battery or alternator. i then ordered a relay and tried replacing that and that was not the problem either. it looks like we both are goin to the dealer for a new starter.

can you post or pm me the install directions when you find some. ive been lookin all over the place for a detailed install and this is all i came up with:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...8-starter.html

this is pretty decent, if you look at "AIEvo9MR" post, he has another link with 2 pixs but in a different mitsubishi.

3 major questions of mine :

1)im wondering how to just uninstall the solenoid by itself and not the whole starter.

2) im just worried about what will happen when you unbolt the starter from the transmission "bell housing" if it does end up that i need to replace the whole starter. what will happen?

3) how would i go about testing my starter or solenoid to see if its gone bad?

mine went out last winter and i just bought a starter from autozone and been fine ever since. it's only 150 bux and i think 6 year warranty. funnything is when they tested it, it passed. car starts up like a champ ever since new one was put in.

I replaced my starter with one from Parts Train on the internet.

The new starter was backwards from the old one so we had to take parts from the old one and switch it with the new one. It works fine now, but I had to cobble the heat shield to make it fit.

If I were to do it again I'd get it from a different source.

when i went to autozone they told me that i had to go to the dealer to get a new starter. What exactly did you buy if you do not mind me asking?

Starter install is straight forward. Look on evomoto.com clutch install. Mid way through has pics and info on removing starter.

My car has been through 3 oem starters in 90,000 miles
