Is it possible to use these cams in a stock head? I know you need springs/retainers for them. But other then that can you just drop them in?

Yes but keep in mind they are designed for bigger turbos which require higher revs to get into the efficiency range which require motor modifications to get to produce the power

+1!, plus your stock head/intake manifold will only flow so much,.. 272's are more then big enough.

I don't have a stock intake manifold but head is stock
