evo 9 cranks but wont start
Hey guys,my evo 9 is in the body shop for a body make over.it was parked for aprox a year.I decided to change thetiming belt for a kevlar belt and also remove the balance shafts. I replaced them with the ams race balance shaft kit.I drove the car to the body shop and it ran perfect.they pull it in and out of the shop daily.except yesterday.they pulled it out not problems went to start it to pull it in and it wont start.it cranks and fires once and awhile but wont start.I've checked all the fuses and they all are goood.any ideas?
will be either a one of the two for sure:
CAM POSITION SENSOR
Had this happen on my evo in the last few weeks, would fire, run for a few seconds then die.
Are you running an aftermarket ecu or mitsu? As on my HKS ECU the car would not fire, but on the mitsu one would fire then die and give CEL.
PM me if you have any questions
or
CRANK POSITION SENSOR
I beleive if its the crank position sensor there is no spark/no fuel

i know it is cylinder 1 becuase the exhaust pipe gets hot if i crank it for a little bit the rest stay ice cold.... i checked the timing marks on the cam pullys and they are both good i guess ill hafta pull the lower cover to check the timing at the crank.ill also check for voltage before the coils.any other ideas?
I would also check if your fuel pressure is ok, or if the pump is even doing anythiing. Then you can check if the injectors are getting a signal to fire. You can check to make sure your getting spark. Check to make sure its nothing simple as a MAF disconnected. A bad MAF can cause driveability issues so if you are able to test the signal and output of the MAF that would be another thing to look at.
