Apparently ix heat shields just drop off the car regularly. I had a grinding sound coming from the rear that would speed up with rpm. Turns out a portion of heat sheild had dropped off and lodged underneath the rear diff.

It sounds like its coming from the turbo itself. I would take off the valvecover to make sure the timing belt isnt ripped or torn. Then after that I would make sure all my lugnuts are tight. Check for shavings or carving grooves in the turbo then check it for shaft-playa nd metal shavings. Thats about all I can think of hearing noises like that.

stock clutch? could be a throwout bearing on its way out? or perhaps something touching the pressure-plate.

I'm sure it is something obvious but thats why its strange that i havent been able to pinpoint anything yet. Its more of a light ticking noise more than a rattle. the evo runs perfectly still and i havent seen where the noise has affected anything. Ive checked for anything that could be loose, and it makes the sound completely out of boost, and after looking at my turbo seems to be okay, also the ticking doesnt increase in speed or volume as the rev increases.
