I wouldnt bother changing it then. I would use the money toward one of these items:
1) FMIC Kit
2) Turbo Kit
3) Cams + Springs

I would also suggest a clutch, but again, if its not slipping, and ur not planning on pushing alot of power, then the stocker should hold up. just an fyi, I am still on the stock clutch & 46k miles on the clock (on fp red setup)

hope this helps!

Yeah if your trans is fine, start modding. The 6spd will hold up to about 400whp. And a healthy stock clutch is known to be fine even on modded car.

I wouldn't start thinking about trans till your making some nasty power or it gives up the ghost. Hopefully it won't!

Depending on how many miles are on the stock clutch, I'd suggest going with mods regardless. Just do the basics.. exhaust, intake, fuel pump, boost controller, and a tune and you'll be happy for a little while. Because if your going to send the trans. away to get it built you might as well have a new clutch to go into it rather than putting the stock one back in, then getting the trans back putting it on, a little while later having the clutch slip and have to take it off again..

Just mod. it, but make sure to have enough $$ for a new clutch when the time comes.

Mod the car. Don't replace the 6sp till it breaks.

I thought the big advantage of the switch was for the strip. I could be wrong? I'm with the others, mods now since you have a perfectly good tranny.

Why change? Unless your car has use on a track or drag strip, then really no point. If you are worried that people tell you the 5-speed is stronger than the 6-speed, so what. Many MR people drive their 6 with no problems at all with high hp.

Go with the mods. I run around 400hp on E85 on the 6-speed with no issue. I only recently changed the clutch as well. It would slip if I launched, but was completely fine otherwise, even at my power levels.

Don't abuse the transmission with shock or heat too much and it will hold fine.

Do the mods you would enjoy the most, an when the tranny breaks, then you fix it..
