door allignment

I was on my way out this morning, and I started the car, and somehow my foot slipped off the clutch. The driver door was open, and when the car surged backward the door tangled with the sprinkler pipes on the wall of the garage. There's no cosmetic damage to the door, but now it doesn't shut as smoothly as it used to. I think the striker is hitting a couple mm higher on the latch.

Is there a MO for door alignment, or should I even be messing with that?

Are you sure it is the alignment? Close the door and check the gaps, if those are off then definately the door is off. It could be possible you bent the hinge. If this is the case, then do not attempt to hammer or force the hinge back into position. Also do not remove the door, you will have an even worse problem.

There are unconventional ways to do this yourself, but I would just take it to a shop and explain it doesnt shut right and see if they can just help out or fix for cheap.

The loop on the door post is adjustable. Just loosen the fasteners slightly and move it where needed.
