46k is not bad, these engines, when properly tuned and power levels are within the tolerances of the internals, they will last just like any other well built engine. There are several examples of high HP high mileage (170k miles+) Evo's on this forum. Your going to change everything anyways so whats it matter.

Have you considered buying an Evo from this forum? If your paying cash why go to a Dealer looking for 5k markup?

Go in there with a $19k certified check and slap it on the desk im sure the sale manager will tell the sales person to just take it because they prob picked the car up for 16k at the auction or 15k for a trade in, that line is so bs because i bet they will lower the price in a week or two anyways because its higg and only someone that is in love with that color maight pay $20k for it. Its really up to you cara pop up here and there you can wait for a good deal or overpay for one you really like.

Haha I work for nissan and you sound like every customer. Truth is most cars that we make money on are cars that people trade in. Auctions are used when we need a certain car that people are asking for and we usually dont make much money on them.

Yea especially now with that accident on the carfax im not even considering that car anymore. I looked at the cars for sale on the forum here but didnt see anything I was really looking for. I noticed there are tons of highly modded built evos for sale. How long is a built motor good for?? Is it safe buying something like that? I was always very skeptical about buying someones highly modded car. At the same time modding is very expensive and it would be nice to buy something with some money dumped into it...

It'd get a 9. I kind of regret not getting a 9 and got an 8 brand new. Knowing how the 9's perform compared to the 8's i'd get a 9. Think of it this way: an 8 with intake, tbe, boost controller, cams make the same power as 9 with intake, tbe, boost controller. Cams are pretty pricey and if you don't install yourself will cost you a couple hundred also.

Yeah.. I'd go for the IX. I got my IX for 22,500 with 14,000 miles and I still feel like I paid too much. But im happy. Im pretty sure if you just wait it out or do alot of reasearch you can find a IX for 19,000.

Hey Tommy,

I recently imported a IX, considered a X but wanted a IX. It took me over two years to find a clean, stock (well almost), low mileage car (just over 10k miles). I think you will find low mileage IX’s sell fast, if priced right. They don’t come up often and when they do they they’re gone.

One resource you can use when trying to verify the condition is Mits USA. Call them, ask them what the history has been, how many warrantee claims, any warrantee denials, etc... Also dealerships may be willing to print you a copy of the super screen which will give you all the information. The super screen can also be used for the RIV recall notice letter. The actual import processis fairly straight forward.

Good Luck with your search.
