I'm sorry but your pretty ****in dumb buying a salvage car for 16k when you had cash in hand and could have picked up a pretty clean Evo off here one even with some light modifications if you waited patiently.

If you rebuild and sell it, you just lost a ton of money in a short period of time. I would pull the motor and get it rebuilt or find a used engine and just keep the car forever.

you could still get the last laugh, i'll explain but 1st thing for the car: ask yourself do i or can i afford to fix the problems via basically the engine all together, or do you just cut your losses and plain jane part the car out completely as best you can attempting to make some of your money back, either way you'll spend money to fix it or you'll lose money and your personal time parting the car out aswell as mailing the parts you can sell can be a pain in the a$$, now onto how you can get the last laugh

it will take effort and time but how you start is by campaigning against the dealership, if its a bob's used auto shop rinky dinky tiny dealership then this won't really work, however if this place is a fairly big dealership call your local news station ask to speak to a reporter and give them your story, and not just one channel, call all your local news stations, one thing i've learned about media is that negativity/ pity me sells and makes great for reports, and use this to your advantage. Do tell the reporters how long it took you to save your money to beable to purchase this dream car of yours, how its effected you and your family finacially, how the dealership proclaimed minimum damage to the car, i'm willing to bet that if not now eventually when peak season for car sales come around the article could possibly air. i really hate to see inexperienced guys get shafted, i thank God everyday my dad tought me the ins and outs of life which included car salesmen, good luck, if you need any further guidence pm me.

yea im either gonna try and rebuild it or buy a used engine.i have the money to fix it but it just sucks cuz i'll be completely broke when its all done. thats why i was thinking of selling it and buying a cheap reliable regular car so at least i get some money back. im in the military and I recently just returned from a yearlong deployment from iraq. I just really wanted an evo so i decided to blow my hard earned money on one. yeah well lesson learned, it won't happen again.

Great advice! Do this bro! Hit that media up like you wouldn't believe. I would be posting ads on craigslist and talking to the radio stations as well. Call the BBB..everything. I had a dealership scam me on my used Honda. They sold it to me with a clean carfax and when I went to trade it in they showed me a carfax and offered me less since the car had an accident before I even bought it!

You are pretty much boned either way. Buy an evo 8 or 9 motor and get it installed. Even when you replace the motor, the car still won't be worth anywhere near 16k. Once you get it fixed, financially, it makes the most sense to just keep it for a few years. You'll probably enjoy driving it a lot too.
Another option would be to try to sell it as is and buy another car. An hour of reasearch would have saved you a lot of pain. This is a lesson for a lot of things in life, just not buying cars.
