Help with Salvaged 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8
i just bought a salvaged 2005 mitsubishi lancer evolution for 16k. I was told by the dealership that the car ran perfectly and there was only a minor problem with the o2 sensor which i had fixed. A month later the car completely stops running. i take it to a mechanics shop and they find many things wrong with the car starter dying, timing belt broken, crank shaft sensor broken, and a completely messed up engine. I call the dealership to see if they can help me fix the car or at least reimburse me for the maintenance but they refuse to help in any sort of way. The car only has 46,000 miles on it and i did not expect it to break down so soon. I'm looking to see what my options are.
check the car fax what was it salvaged from? accident? theft? water damage?.. and than go from there.. you might wanna be looking at some buscher racing blocks and heads... might as well go big... while your at it.. But the moral of the story is that dealership f#cked you man... sorry to hear about $hit like this...
You can just buy a mivec evo 9 engine while your at it. If you feel that you want this evo then rebuild it, if you think its too much of a hassle your better off parting it out or selling as is for less. Yeah that dealership F**ked you over, But you can fix this check craigslist.org I find lots of evo 8 and 9 engines for sale.

I'm just assuming here but him buying it from a dealer suggests he probably had a trade in. If not there is no reason not to by private party especially since there is no warranty on that car.
even BEFORE everything went to hell, the salesman was celebrating on how much he made off of you. he probably took half of that as trade-in valve then turned around and doubled the money on you. lessoned learned, never EVER buy salvaged sportscars.
be ready to spend big bucks. your mistake cost you a motor and considering its hacked condition, good chance transmission and tranfer case isnt healthy either. get your wallet/credit card ready!

I would go back there and get your money back. Get yoru trade in back or take him to court too. If he didnt say as is your in luck either that or they have to fix it. Or you can lay low and get yoru car fixed I can tell you how that will be out little secret. Btw pictures of the car and vin number please.
i didn't do a trade in and i paid for the car in cash. unfortunately i bought it "as is" the dealer made that pretty clear to me especially when i called him and tried to get them to at least help me fix my car but he pretty much told me to F*** off. i figured since it felt fine when i test drove it and their mechanics told me i shouldn't have any problems with it. Yea im an idiot for believing them and now im paying for it. literally...
