evo 9 mr questions
evo 9 mr questions
Hey guys heres my situation, i bought an evo 9 mr with a blown motor from an auction and by the looks of it the guy was getting it repossesed so swapped out some evo 8 parts on it instead, like the seats, steering wheel and rims. So over the past few months I have swapped in a stock evo 9 engine and got everything plugged in as well as fluids. I had a professional locksmith come over and try to program the keys but said he was incapable of programming the keys because the ecu needed to be flashed to match the car. I had hooked up an OBDII computer to the car and it came up and it was able to connect to the ecu the thing is I noticed that the vin number that came up was different than the car. The ecu is for an evo 9 as I took it out and it has the 3 plug ins and not 4 plug ins like the evo 8. I was wondering what my options are for getting this car started because I want boost!

well 1st things 1st, figure out if it really is an evo 9 or an evo 8, as for the key thing, im clueless, but if i were in that position to buy an evo dirt *** cheap blown motor and all, it would be cutted to the bare bone, then built from the bottom to the top and defenetly take my sweet time making sure i get all the best pieces for all the right prices, as for the ecu, figure out if its an evo 8 or 9 ecu and defenetly findout if the car is an 8 or 9, there are vin numbers in different locations of the car so make sure there all the same as well. good luck
you will need to flash the ecu and remove the immobilizer code. if you have everything hooked up ready to go and starting the car is the only problem then i would disable the immobilizer and forget about it. good luck with the project car
