Speedo Issues
Speedo Issues
so i just got my evo put together from a rolling shell, and i took it out on a test drive, well i noticed after about 5 miles my trip had only registered like 0.8 miles, and my speed was jumping from 0-25 mph. i read other posts and seen check the speed sensor. well im not sure which one that is. is it directly under the battery? in my case i have the buscar racing mini battery and there is a sensor right on top of the trans that is easily reachable. any ideas? thanks
spead sensor is one towards firwall on top of tranny....you gotta take off your upper ic to get to it...well to make it easy
there will be a 10mm bolt holding it in....and its kinda like a long sensor..with a gear attatched to bottom.
..i belive it has one of those metal clips on it as well.

sorry bro..i dont get notices everyday when a reply ahppens...you just need a small flat head screw driver.....
matter a fact on the top of the motor in the back you see your map sensor....its held on by the same clip...take a look at it so u know what u lookin for...get a small flat head in the middle between the medel and just pop it out...it will go flying away if you dont keep a hand on it.

I had a very similar problem, especially with the speedo jumping around. Everything else seemed fine. Thought it was either the vss or my speedo going bad. I was able to fix it by adjusting my clutch oddly enough, wasn't even shooting for that, but once it was done, the problem just went away.
good luck,
good luck,

I'd read the whole thread
Personally I think there is a sweet spot to this adjustment, if I had it to far in with lots of thread sticking out, the transmission would be clunky and I believe I burned through a clutch like this once. Then I think I backed it out too far(only about 2 threads sticking out), I had a slight grind in my transmission and was having my speedo problem. I adjusted it back towards the back of the shaft and kept making minor adjustments forward until I got rid of the grind. Then after fixing that, I realized my speedo was working correctly again...
I'd definitely give it a try since it's free

well my trand shifts smooth as butter and no grinds, just a little hard to get into reverse, but i think i can fix that with adjusting the linkage. i put a scan tool on it last night and its throwing a speed sensor code. along with 7 other codes lol but i wont go there
