take it out and wash it with a tablespoon of baking soda for every 8 ounces of water. thatll wash the battery and make it last longer/stop it from draining itself, make it last a while longer

i changed the oem battery out at 97k when i bought they car. guy i bought it from said it was the OEM battery still. it was slow cranking when i got it so i figured it was time to get it a new one.
Missed my update last year, but she fired right up again this year. Only 9620 miles, so that helps I guess. What is the record, I have to be getting close...............
BTW, is there some kind of date code on the original batt's????
Hell I've had some el cheapos not even last a year. Duracrap and the like. I now have a mini so I'm sure that won't last the winter. Gonna keep a tender on it in the garage to help it survive.
Let's see some pics of this record-holding battery and the car.
Just clicked a hair over 10K miles and I got the dreaded first year EVO, 5th gear grind (which I guess most got fixed under warantee 10 or more years ago ). Anyway, pulled her apart a couple weeks back to have trans done.
Here's battery........
I assume date code is 1/9/2003 since I bought car 4/3/2003
03 VIII was just the first time Mitsubishi brought the EVO to the USDM. The VII, VIII, and IX are all essentially the same. Of course we all know the actual differences. Point is a 5th gear grind is not a USDM EVO VIII specific thing heard of it on all model yrs. Just like the kick panel wire gremlins haha
My EVO never had a warranty nor a 5th gear grind either lol.
Anyway, awesome clean low mileage car you have there man. Lil wing and all love it!!

Thanks. Almost sold her last year due to back problems, but every time I drive it, I remember how much fun this car is and there is nothing else I could buy that would even come close to how these drive, for what I could sell it for.
And yeah, many didn't have the 5th gear problem, but quite a few did early on, enough that Mitsu issued tech serv bulletin for redesigned synchro parts.
