I just read today that MMC Japan are toying with the idea of expanding the Evo family by dropping in the GTA engine into an EK wagon and Cedia Wagon. A 1.8L light pressure turbo wagon already but these two seem to be aimed squarely at family and outdoor oriented people who wanted the power of the Evo but couldn't live with the sedan form.

So it seem to me MMC is thinking of using the GTA engine as a base platform having seen this already in the AirTrek Turbo R. Now regardless of the two new rumoured Evos, its also further indicates this maybe the choosen engine used for global production. Am I scaring you (US folks) with my speculation.
