Your gap is waaay to big! mine is gapped to .22 . I had this SAME exact problem word for word. It would go away then come back the next day, bad sputtering. Make sure with the iridium plugs you dont use a coin tool (pos), could damage the iridium tip. Not till i got a good gapping tool did i realize it was to big. Regapped to .22-.25 and all is good! Regap before you do anything else. Goodluck!

I'm running the BPR7EIX ngk iridium. I'm not sure hat year your Evo is (using mobile version evom) but that is for Evo 8's. I believe the 9's are longer. But those are the plugs I run and they're great! The person at autozone insisted they didn't fit my car and tried to point me to some other plugs. I told him those are the ones I wanted and just because his computer says they're not for my car doesn't mean it won't work.

so i changed the plugs and gapped them at .025 and the cars running prime. I was taking the old plugs off and number 3 smelled like RAW fuel the white part of the plug was touching the tip!!! (im not doctor but that will cause a misfire) still has a misfire at idle but i tested that coil and its weak compared to the other one but i already have them on the way along with new wires!

Glad you got that figured out. I bought a new battery and double checked the gap on my plugs. Problem is fixed

Use the regular Iridiums, not the laser ones.

And/or double check your gap.
