I saw a police show were officers opened fire on a Suburban. One of the cops said its surprisingly hard to get a bullet to penetrate a car. The Suburban had dents on it with few penetrations, but the cops were mostly using MP5's.

Shouldn't whatever made the hole be on the inside of the door panel? Maybe shake the door and see if anything rattles.

I work in Albuquerque during the summer (I have an evo and a sportbike ), what overpass was it?

BS on whoever says it's shotgun.... pellets being either(bird shot, buck shot, or slug). A shotgun maximum range is up to 60 yards! If you were within 100 yards you would definitely HERE A SHOTGUN GO OFF!

That being said as the pellets spread further away the spray pattern increases thus spreading the group. To have a group that close it would have been within 5 yards or less depending on the type of cartridge. Furthermore, it wouldn't have dented it would have punctured the doors. Also, the OP didn't hear any gunshot's, did he?

Wow, I would be sad if this happens to me. I would try to go shop around for the fix though. I can't stand have holes like that on the car. Good luck man!

The body shop i brought it to said that they have had several cars in getting quotes because of these people throwing rocks. I know that markings look weird but there is no way this could be bullets. The dents have characteristics of a gun shot but the likely hood of three bullets hitting withing the same distance of each other in a triangular form all at the same time to make one loud bang. It had to have been a rock.

I agree, and if you were driving around 70mph on the freeway, that's a pretty big impact for a large rock.
