Try to buy one from some one who really cared for the car, not some dumb kid. Make sure they kept up with maintenance if they did it wont be as likely to brake unless you do some thing stupid to it.

clutches are the only thing I have had go and that was with hundreds of drag racing runs.
They are much better at stayin together than older dsm's. Coming from a guy who has had 2 dsm's and 2 evo's.
Good luck with the purchase and look for a good one that is well maintained.

I don't know what's common. If you treat it nice nothing goes bad.

For something so small to fix its like A 5 hour job they have to tear about the whole dash to fix the relay on the temp control I just had mine done...it sucked

I believe somewhere there is a write up on how to fix the issue and its not horribly difficult. I could be wrong on the difficulty.

The speed limit.

Other than that, I've had my Evo since it was brand new when I bought it in February 2007, not a single issue.

Then DON'T get an Evo. It's expensive to maintain compared to a Civic or other NA vehicles...

You have to account for insurance, fluid changes, clutch, brakes, any wear and tear item. I spend a lot on my Evo to keep it up to date.

hey mcfly, smart people don't blow free money on toys ... sorry

I broke the little bolt that holds the brake line bracket to the strut. That might have been user error though

i put over 20k miles on my car every year. i just changed the brakes but other than that its the maintenance. replaced the clutch once. oil changes and trans, rear, tcase. my worst problem is buying all 4 tires every year. that money adds up really quick. and thats not even including the parts i buy

The throttle body shaft seals leak on every Evo 8 and 9...literally. That's a must-fix
