8 years/ 49K never had a problem until I started drag racing with the car.

Been through:
Trans
t-case
4 clutches

but both of those were a given with launching the car. Other than that it has never let me down. If you search my threads I have my build in there. If you want any help in anything let me know.

There is no common issue or anything chronic about these cars.

You will most likely be the cause of whatever happens to break.

you didn't mention if you're buying new or used. if you buy new and want complete peace of mind, the mitsu/hyundai dealers offer a warranty extension to 6,7,8 years, which if you don't use it, you get the full price refunded. however that limits modding to largely cosmetics, something to consider.

Still on the stock balance shaft belt?! Get that changed ASAP. If it goes, it WILL take out your timing belt and the head with it. Ask me how I know...Old school DSMer here checking in with reports of personal experience

Can't believe no one has mentioned the stock undertray. If you live in a snowy/icy climate, it WILL break, they are just thin plastic garbage. Other than that, the stock clutches don't last if you aren't nice to the car.

I'm kind of leery of doing that up here in MN ever since a friend of mine had a decent size chunk of ice come up and blow the crank pulley right off his car.
