Question whining, complaints~bad car or worth buying

hi, i've been a member of the forums for a while now, never really posting just reading topics and such, anyways i was planning on buying an evo this month ( mind was set even test drove one ) but i noticed so much complaints from owners, every time i check seems to be a new complaint by a member. so i was wondering everyones opinion on the evo???
is it actually worth it and well made and people are just overwhining??

or peoples complaints actually valid and legitimate about evo being a badly built car with too much problems??

thanks

think about it this way, for every complaint there are 100 owners that are loving the car. i love my car to death, sure it has some rattles and the quality is a bit off but the car is a blast and i enjoy it.

this is my opinion so you don't have to agree with me if you don't want to

My only gripe is the boost taper which I believe can be offset with Xede or Dynoflash. This is by far the most well-balanced performance car I have ever driven- a true enthusiast car!

I am planning on buying an EVO very soon regardless of what I heard. Every car has its fair share of problems. Visit any forum online and you'll see problems and complaints with every car.

I think it also has to do with how people drive there car. Drive responsibly and you should have nothing to worry about.

no whining!

Seems some of the whiners don't even have the car. I actually laugh out loud when I drive this thing. When I had it up on the rack to change the oil I marveled at the engineering. If you like to drive, then this is the car.

You can put stuff in the trunk too.

583 miles, no complaints except
my face is sore from the silly grin I have every time I drive this car.

Much like my race car, it is a true driver's car.

You know how excited you felt on the test drive? That's how I feel each time I get in mine

Go to any car board, honda, nissan, toyota, subaru, you will hear about complaints and problems. All car manufacturers have some problems, but it does not mean you will have one with your particular car. I have no problems after 6 months. A lot of problems are related to driver abuse and no one will admit they were the cause. They just want to blame the car. Take car of it and it will take care of you.

Have 19000+ miles on mine. Never really experienced MAJOR issues with my evo. Sure some rattles and clunking in the transmission. Nothing has broken, yet.

Put it to you this way. I was stuck on stupid for the first two weeks of driving the car. Couldn't stop smiling. Still stuck on stupid. But now I can controll the smiling.

Most people will have mixed opinions about build quality etc. But even auto makers like BMW have their fair share of problems. I'm sure that most if not all evo owners can agree that this car is definitely a kick in the *** to drive. You won't regret it. Just get one and make up your own mind.

It's hit or miss -- I ended up with a poor build quality Evo (January-February Build) lots of problems with normal break-in (16,000 miles so far with lots of serious problems). Yet, many folks haven't had a single problem. Just remember it's not a Honda or Toyota.

On the other hand, there's no other car like it (even the STi, in my opinion). The quick steering, true 2.0-Litre rally engine, great handling and dynamics makes it a steal of a deal. Just decide if you're willing to take the gamble. If I could go back in time, I would actually buy one again... BUT this is my last Mitsu. The dealer service is TERRIBLE nationwide. Good luck and choose wisely...

i still dont own an evo, but as far as complaints go, ive seen far less on this board than on many of the other car enthunsiast boards (mainly a mazda and nissan boards). though i have owned mitsus before, and sometimes the build quality is sketchy, and their dealers are the worst (with no attempts in improving it seems) evo sounds solid. test driving one was a blast, and had absolutely no complaints, but ofcourse im the kinda guy that doesnt care about ergonomics or rattles and such, so im partial.

peace,
kory

if the evo were a $20k car you probably wouldn't here a peep about the petty ****. some people think that for $30k it should be flawless. one thing to remember is that it is a cheap body thrown on a kickass chasis.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I have a Feb 03 build date, 4k miles, NO problems whatsoever.

I've had my car since July 19 (April build date) and after 8000+ miles, no problems whatsoever. I believe SinCityEvo's right. If you take care of your car well enough, it will take care of you.

I do over 70 miles a day in mine. I have an annoying squeak from the dash, a rattle from the passenger side, and the gas mileage is crap. Would I consider getting rid of it? Hell no. If I did, then it would only be for another one. I still giggle like a schoolgirl after accelerating out of a bend at 60 that physics suggest I should have taken at 40. I feel the car's a bit slow (even though I ran 13.5 bone stock) but I'm used to faster cars (in a straight line). As for the rattles: The stereo drowns them out nicely .
