whining,complaints~bad car or worth buying
Problems happen with a lot of newly designed/redesigned vehicles, and a lot more there first year. Currently I work at a Ford Dealer in the parts dept. The new 04 trucks everyone has been so blown up about have had many many problems. I have been having to send the ecu’s to ford so they can "research" why they have trucks dieing, misfiring, and blowing head gaskets in the first 50 miles. Over 12 thousand trucks came off assembly line with their lifters upside down. New electronic systems are fouling up and radios, power windows, and other electronics in the trucks are failing with zero miles. We also have received many for some odd reason with bad alternators, and dead batteries. These are just a few of the examples and the list goes on. Not trying to bash the company just pointing out examples.
Evo is easy to make fast in a straight line. I have just the WORKS P2 flash, throttle body and axle-back exhaust and am making about 245 WHP....that's close to 300 HP at the flywheel. and I'm making over 250 lbs. per foot of torque...so, it's plenty fast now in a staight line. I've had M3's, fast modded VW's, Audi's etc...The EVO is my favorite, and I'll have it when I'm a very old man. You could not make a better purchase.

I have to agree with the smiles. I am like a teenager in a nudie bar for the first time...so happy I could almost.....oh never mind....the car is a Blast to drive.
There is definitely more whining here than one any other car forum I frequent, but I'd assume some of that comes with this car being a Mitsubishi and their quality issues. If you buy this car you've got to be someone who can overlook that kind of stuff.
I agree... "that much money!! I expect this or they should done that" is basically the way the complaints start out. Simply put the EVO is GREAT, FUN car for the money spent. Is it the "THE PERFECT" car? Well, that all comes down to what you define as "perfection"

This is to sincity evo regarding my mods:
This is not low for an EVO, and my dyno testing was done on an AWD Dynojet. When you see most of the numbers of stock evos putting out 240 at the wheels on dynos, it is usually on 2wd dynos, and the numbers read much higher. On the dynojet the AWD driveline loss is about 22% give or take, so I am looking at 295 crank HP and around 300 ft lbs of torgue. Also, Dynos are only good for relative comparison. Same car can run diff numbers on the same dyno on a different day. My car may not be as strong as some evos, but a 300 HP EVO is pretty formidable, and the power increases are real, tractable, and usable for me.

I am going by what others have posted. I have basically the same mods except for the throttle body, so I was disappointed when I saw your 240. I am happy with the power of my car, but always looking for something to add.
actually my best run that day was 248...I was mistaken. Most Evo's dyno around 208-220 stock on the AWD dynojet, with some exceptionally strong ones coming in around 230. The P2 is a very good flash, but the throttle body and axle-back are not going to add that much power. But, throttle response and drivebility is aided. With Cams I will probably be looking at 275 SAFE HP tot he wheels witht he works set-up, which is fantastic. Question is, are YOU happy with the performance of your car? There are mods that could have resulted in higher numbers, but I elected to go with works reliability, engineering and tuning philosophy...works for me!!
