Maybe that hole is for access to the ACD pump?

 

So if we dont have it why do some come with this vent?? Save Mitsu some $?
I personally dont have this vent on my 05 SSL. My buddys 05 w/o ssl does have it though.

also i have the vent on the dash... took it all apart for various installs... theres nothing behind it. and my buddy has a Silver VIII GSR that i rode in today... he doesn't have the in dash vent.

 

Maybe is 06 lancer specific? Meaning non evolution? Seems to be on the 06 models. I'll check mine tomorrow.
Edit... that probably didn't make much seance after I read it. Had a couple drinks. What I meant was maybe in 06 since our cars are based off the lancer maybe those models used that hole for something.

 

I have been listening to everyones input and i cannot find a clear answer. I have confirmed that they have been on some 03 8s, 05 8s, 06 GSR, 06 SE and 06 MR. also just to specify for those who said something about the holes in the dash, they are infact for the jdm evos with auto climate control. only the 06's have them.

 

If you look down the hole, at an angle, can you see the headlight level adjustment screw?

 

I have an evo 9 MR. I'll check it out in the morning and see what I can find out about it...

 

Normally headlight adjustment access holes are round. I dont have this hole on my 05 Evo with ssl package

 

I have it on my JDM RS, and according to the ralliart FIA homologation papers (found at ralliart.com) the chassis and hood have an additional hole in the evo 9 ( 2006 ) but they don't state what's for sorry
