I know STM here in Rochester, NY ran specials for $500 clutch installs, and for where we are you can't get any better than that. Sometimes it pays to have it done right if your questioning yourself. It's easy to screw something small up, or forget a bolt and then something tweaks or breaks. I am a do it yourselfer as well, but I've made my mistakes too.

If you have the money, spend it on having someone do it professionally. I personally would read write ups on it anyway, and then whoever you have do it, just ask them a few questions about things your not sure of. Then maybe after you get more comfortable with the car, you can try to tackle it at a later date.

Shops that are a part of these forums are definitely gonna be the way to go. Even if you have to drive a bit to get to one it's going to save you money and give you peace of mind.

The good shops can get it done in 5-6 hours, that's why the rate is much lower.
Right on brother.

The cost is free if you take a weekend and do it yourself. Well not free if you count the pizza and beer.

For the prices I am seeing here, glad we had clutch replaced when we had to have some transmission work done. Was only half worn, but the new clutch more than paid for itself since we don't have to have it done as soon again.

EVO 9 will cost a little more becuase of the ACD pump bleeding. What ever you do dont get a ACT clutch or you will be having to worry about paying for a clutch more than once.

I hear this often, but I've heard from professionals that its because people get the wrong ones. Like an HDSS for a 700 hp car..No probs with my ACT so far.

Huntsville, Alabama here. Not far from you at all. Dealership said $2500 for parts and labor. Had a mechanic that worked for Honda for 18 years replace my clutch for $400 labor, found a clutch with a LIFETIME WARRANTY (found that crazy) for $448 + shipping overnight.

LOL!! Your not kidding about two weeks ago my CRX was spilling coolant all over the place and I was freaking out cause the Evo was leaking gear oil, and to top it off my WRX has been out for about two months now.

That's a good price. Where at and what clutch? Did it come with pressure plate and throw out bearing? It's always a good idea to replace the throw out bearing w/ clutch. Cheap to replace but same labor as clutch.
