Weatherstripping under front of hood
I was wondering if anyone has cut or removed the section of rubber weatherstripping attached to the hood right in front of the airbox scoop to improve airflow into the scoop and if it makes a difference. No search results were found. Thanks for your replies.
I have seen one of the body kits that has a scoop built onto the bumper and it looks like a lot of air could be brought in. I think it's the C-West kit. I am thinking removing the rubber seal that seals the hood closed would allow more air in. I have a K&N filter in the box and I know it can flow more air if given.
I was thinking of doing the same thing awhile back. When I looked at closely it looks like it's designed to push air through the holes that come up from up from the radiator. I think it would help more air get in but more debri, bugs etc. also. Probably would have to change your air filter more often or clean it since you have K&N.

What I did to mine last time I had the stock airbox was, I screwed a piece of sheet meta 3" by 5" on the bulkhead right behind the wheatherstripping you mentioned. And then bend the sheet metal a slight angle to direct the air up. You know what I mean?
Yeah, will look at it again. I was also looking into buying the carbon fiber radiator shield for the way it looks more so than directing airflow down toward the radiator. So I wonder if this will further inhibit airflow from coming in and up through the grill right inder the hood. It looks like the shield will work against airflow to the box and hold in below toward the radiator? confused.

If there is no hole in the same area as stock radiator shield I would say it will definately slow air flow into the intake. I really think you need that opening with the stock airbox configuration.
Oops, I just looked at the APR carbon shield and it does have holes where the stock ones are, so that's a non-issue. I will look into that mod that kuniboy mentions. It may work better by directing the air right into the scoop. It would be nice if someone would manufacture a "S" shaped scoop that has an intake behind the grill under the hood, then curves up and directly into the OEM scoop. You would have to cut the bumper section right in front of the intake, though to make room.
Yes, same design but utilizing the stock box and a new manufactured scoop that runs into the stock box to keep the cost down. I know you would have to cut and modify the top of the bumper cover, but it would be nice for those that want to keep the stock box.
