HKS type 2 turbo timer question

I have a HKS type 2 turbo timer and I was wondering how accurate the 0-60 mph and 1/4 mile mode on it is. I was bored on the way home from work tonight and I decide to see how fast I could do 0 -60mph in and what I could do the 1/4 mile in. My turbo timer timed my 0-60mph in 4.72 secs and the 1/4 mile in 12.93. I know that the only real way to find out is by going to the track. I was just curious as to how accurate the turbo timer is.

i have a feeling its overrating the time. I posted back a while ago on this topic, i was curious b/c stock, i ran a 0-60 on 4.5, and theres no way i was going that fast with the way i launched it.

Based on what people in the past have told me, it may be anywhere from 0.2-0.5 seconds faster than the real time.

The only accurate measurement is the 0-60, as the timer relies on the speedo signal only. It starts when you start moving and ends when you reach 60. I've tested the 1/4 mile timer at the track and found its about .5 seconds too fast. It was almost exactly .5 seconds too fast every time I tested it, so it is very repeatable. You could use it to test out mods, launch techniques, etc. but the 1/4 mile is a bit too fast.

0-60 on the timer is 60 ft. time.

Don't forget to calibrate it more accurately before assuming its not accurate.

Two ways, either you replug it or you can put it in the MPH mode and press the button when you hit 30mph.......I forget which button but it is stated on your manual...

oh yeah, i did that already, i think the problem is that if you look closely at the timer, it delays a bit and doesn't start counting until you're already moving.

yeah, it "seems" like it does, but theres a slight delay, trust me. Here, do this instead...run the 0-60 mph timer, see what you get...then run the countdown mode, and see what you get. You may lose a bit of time for slower reaction, but the rest is the delay difference.
