what kind of cams

So im new to the evo game so I want to know what other people have for cams in their evos and what they think of them. So i'll start off by telling you what I have done so far.

1000cc injectors, evo 9 turbo, evo 9 BOV, injen IC pipes, mishimoto radiator, spoolin up coil packs, and tuned on E85. Im pretty sure thats it.

So basically im just wondering what cams would be best. It is a DD right now and im looking for some more speed. Let me know what you have in mind. Thanks!

Here is a link to a thread by Martin at AMS about a bunch of different cams he tested, so figure out what your eventual goal is for the car an pick the cams that will be best suited.

I would go for an intake/tbe exhaust first before the cams, but HKS and Kelford make excellent cams. I've got Kelford 272 and they are great for DD.

GSC Power Division S2s which are a 274/274 duration and can be run with Single Beehive Springs. (That is the package I just bought actually!)

Kelford 272/272 also have found great results on the stock turbos.

You could practically flip a coin and be happy with whichever you get but, think about what you might possibly do in the future.

My opinion is to stick with either GSC S1 or S2's they are proven to work great depending on what route you want to go.

I agree with the above, do the down pipe and tbe first--then cams or you'll just be doing a retune you've tune the cams when you add the exhaust--no sence doing it twice.

I forgot to mention the tbe. Idk if it is full greddy or not but I know that the muffler is greddy and it is a 3" tbe.

Nice, than I would go for a good intake first, unless you want to stick with the lower budget OEM set up with a Hi-Flow drop in like apexi, K&N, Blitz (which is still a good set up). Kelford cams although expensive are a good investment and sound mean with a full tbe.

I think S1's might be the way to go.. Atleast that's what I'm leaning towards. I'm in a similar boat but I'll be satisfied with a 30 hp increase.

Yes those are what I have and they are probably the most pricey if the choices out there, due to being the best of the best. They will run you around $500-600 depending on where you get them and you pay for for the IX ones. The gains are fairly good, but it all depends on your turbo and getting a tune.

272's seem to be a favored selection imo. I would consider some s2's. ive had hks 272's and wasnt thrilled with them. currently i have the gsc's, highly recommended.
