understandable kinda, but why bottle neck performance parts? i think the "balance" you are speaking of is supposed to include braking and handling, not to limit power

I think what he's saying is that U.S companies, in general, are in pursuit of peak power, over a balance and super safe setup. In essence, Japanese tuners over build their motors to support the power level, whereas we Americans try to push the envelope. Take for example the guys running 10s on the stock turbo, or the guys making 500hp on a stock black. Or consider the SSE Evo vs. the Cyber Evo. Being safe or not is not the question. Its a matter of tuning philosophy.

My Evo V was HKS'd out but that's because that's the only somewhat dependable stuff for older Evos. You're really just paying for a name. All that stuff is way overpriced. It's better to own US made parts since you have more access to them here incase you need something replaced or something.. I currently have HKS Hypermax coilovers and I hate them. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

If you're so proud to be an American; then why'd you spend your US DOLLARS on a JAPANESE car? Your statement makes little to zero sense.

since america doesnt build evo's he had to buy a japanese built one

he couldnt support our economy buying the car in the beginning so now he buys american made parts to help our GDP

Ok this is a little out of control. First....Has anyone noticed HKS lowered their price on the new CAMS? Their very close to the same price as everyone else, I paid $540 for a pair. And the new turbo is a BB for under 2k, thats not a bad deal. It is not the most powerful made but it does spool quick and it performs exactly how it is advertised.

thats another great point people overlook. all the testing they do on ALL of the products they carry is insane. they make sure they release a great product that wont fail. how many times have you herd of an hks product failing?

R&D is not cheap.

This is another valid point. You know that when you buy an HKS part it's most likely not going to break. How many early generation super sequential BOV's are still being sold and resold today? Tons. I find one almost every week. Some of these are 8+ years old and still going strong.
HKS also is not going for massive power with there products this is evident with there turbo kits. The biggest turbo I can find they offer for the evo is a GT3240.
If you're wanting peak power HKS is not really the way to go.

I'm still eagerly awaiting a test of there new evo 8 cams BTW

In terms of quality, I don't believe there is any American company that produces higher quality parts.

HKS are the true pioneers of Evo performance. They came out with the parts first, all the american manufacturers copied and improved upon their designs. Their parts are of the highest quality and are worth the high price they command.

I love my hks exhaust and how it sounds. Company online screwed up my order and I got it for the price of a megan. Also have an hks bov too.

Other then that I don't think I would put anything else from them on my car other then maybe cam gears. Have different parts in mind that I like better.

I gotta agree...I went with there new turbo because their R&D is top notch (and it's a bb unit) so I knew that there's less likely a chance of the turbo failing. Was also looking for a good street/road race turbo and this fit the bill perfect.

Well as much as an HKS ***** as I am, this is where you need to be smart, one of the few differences in cam gears is the number of locking bolts. HKS gears have 3, personaly I would opt for one of the many other units that have 5 locking bolts.

As for cams, may I remind our gentle readers that our dear GSC cams are copies of a prominant Japanese tuners cams. In fact I would wager most US developed parts can trace thier development lineage back to Japanese parts simply because before 03' there were no US made Evo parts.

Those newer to the Evo scene need to be thankful for the huge number of parts and development that has happend in the US since 03' and respect where they came from.

Actually I'm kinda pissed at Ford, F-them for not allowing me to buy an AWD turbo focus or Cosworth Escort, if they offered them here I would have never bought an Evo. I would love me a turbo AWD Focus!
