Lip or Splitter for dd evo

which would you prefer? function or form? Are splitters not recommended for a dd? I guess I am looking for a sort of poll thread. I'm trying to decide between the two.

Well you say Daily Driver; if it doesn't see track time and it's for pure aesthetics, then some of the lips on the Evo look really sharp.

A functional splitter sticking out 3"-4" inches will only provide you with something to smack a parking spot with or hit your shin on

If its a DD, I would only consider a lip. IMO, they look better as long as functionality is not required. A splitter will do more for you, but I think it only belongs on a track car. Similar to the people who run huge spoilers on the street (hardparkers or whatever they're called), I think it looks pretty rediculous.

ya. IMO form over function when it comes to DDing front splitters and lips. i would be raged if i hit a curb after spending $400 on a splitter.

I would recommend a lip, maybe even a PU one.

Good luck with your decision.

the problem with lips and dd's is that they hang lower than some splitters do; I'd assume that lower ground clearance would be more of a cause for concern. I run the apr windsplitter on my dd and have never had issues with parking spots or bumps.

If you prefer a lip, I would go with 4retech's suggestion and go PU

yes, ground clearance is an issues since im lowered. The lip i was considering for my 8 bumper was the du luck style in PU, or if I were to do a splitter, I guess the only option would be cf or this titanium one that's more expensive.

I guess it comes down to material? I would prefer a splitter if it didn't break as easily as the cf's do, but I think the du luck lips look better... ARGGG

If you are lowered, then don't run either. Run stock lip, stock bumper. Take it from me, I'm on Tein flex coilovers lowered quite a bit, and I have broken 3 different lips already from steep ramps, driveways, speed bumps, squirrels, etc.. I no longer drive my Evo on the street so its not a problem anymore, but trust me, your lip is gonna get busted. If you do run one, maybe something more flexible like the poly urethane lips would be more durable for commuting?

For Cali, I recommend the splitter simply because there are so many dips on the roads. And it also seems like the entrance to any plaza/parking lot is 3 feet higher than the street.. So on the way out... Thinner lip = less of a target. My SE lip is destoryed thanks to here..
