TOB or Input shaft??
We all know about the TOB noise. It could also be the input shaft. My question is has anyone replaced the TOB and had that noise go away. That noise is getting pretty loud in my car and it's starting to worry me. And for that matter if it is the input shaft what would have to be done to fix that?
Mine too has been growing louder over time, up to 7500 miles now. It's not intrusively loud, but definitely more noticeable. I know it's a wear item, but still, it's a bit early considering my clutch is still working perfectly and holding strongly.

same here. The clutch is great. It's just that metalic sound that's pissing me off. I hope it's the TOB. I know how to fix that, But if it's the input shaft I'm clueless.
Well regardless it should be covered under warranty. The question is, are you brave enough to let your local dealership disassemble and attempt to reassemble your drivetrain? I'm definitely not! Someone better put me under some anesthetic for that job.

HELL NO These monkeys are not coming close to my car. I work at a shop so that's where I'll have the work done at. I was just looking at the Evo service manual and if it is the input shaft, there is a bearing on the end of it and that rides on the tranny case. If the spot where the bearing rides is egged out then it will at least need a new case. But if that's the case when the tranny is out I'll take it down to mitsu then let them see for themselfs.
