UK EVOLUTION IX Trunk Emblem

Hey guys. I installed one of the EBay UK chrome trunk emblems about 4 months ago and it is already turning yellowish. Looks like the chrome plating is washing off. I only lightly hand wash the car and don't use chemicals - only Mothers car wash soap. I tried to get a replacement or a refund, but the EBay seller just replied with, "sorry no refunds." So, beware of these cheap imitations. By the way, anybody know a source for a real UK one? All the web sources I see say out of stock.

Thank,
Tom

Ebay emblems are known for discoloring. Don't buy them. Get the real thing.

Got mine from Lancershop 4 years ago. It's still chrome up to this day. Might have gotten an authentic one.

As soon as I get the right thickness of aluminum I plan to make my own. The cheap one I got off EBay is metal and got bent a little when washing it one time.

I will paint it black like my current one I plan on using the current letters as my model for size, shape, and design.

I would just have them repainted another colour with automotive paint. You can even do it yourself if you just use some dental floss and remove them off your trunk, repaint them and finally apply 3m tape again than install.

I had one of the metal ones from ebay. I bent it while washing it a few times and broke off a letter. I got another one off ebay, but got the plastic one instead and it looks 10x better. It's raised lettering and is much stronger.

I got some from Ebay about a year ago, they still look perfect. I've pressure-washed the car a few times this winter too, and I wash it every 2 weeks or so in the summer.

Good idea. I thought of that is well, but then thought it may be more trouble than it's worth. Painting each little letter and cutting and applying stricky tape would take some time. Guess I'm just lazy.

Mine is the plastic chrome one as well and it did look great for a while. I was thinking of trying the metal one. So, you wouldn't recommend the metal one?

Wow, you're lucky. Do you recall who the seller was for yours? Maybe there are good Ebay ones and bad Ebay ones.

Is this a UK badge? I bought my evo, and it came with this badge. I was wondering what it was.

^ Yeah, that's a nice read end! Generally the authentic UK badge shines bright and the letters are a lot more solid than the ebay ones. Hense the $100+ price that over the $29 price tag.
