Replace clutch before tune?
I DO KNOW my clutch is going bad... because when i start driving and i push the pedal down and then i try to go into another gear my RPM'S goes flying too 6k before it drops and grabs... But my question is SHOULD i replace the clutch before the tune? I do think i need to... but im not sure if its necessary... the cost of a clutch replacement is expensive.
Thank You.
Thank You.

You're right, it should be replaced. The tuning session will be worthless if the power cannot transfer to the dyno's rollers.
My first tune I had stock clutch. When I install my new turbo I am going to put a new clutch in too, just to be safe, as I have to travel at least 350 miles for a dyno session.
To have a professional do it, you will be looking at 500-700 dollars. If possible, have a shop that specializes in Evo's do it.
Good luck!

Not only will it not tune right but once it starts slipping like that it is only a matter of time before your car is going to not be drivable anymore. Get the clutch fixed before you have to get it towed to a repair shop.

ahh yes, had this exact problem today. I wasnt sure if my clutch was slipping or not. I got to the shop to get an E85 tune and on the FIRST pull the clutch slipped so bad we had to abort. Now we waisted both our time and my car is sitting in his shop waiting for a clutch, then I can get tuned. So to answer your question, yes please replace your clutch before getting a tune. I speak from experience.

What if your not sure if your clutch is going bad? i have no problem with my clutch grabbing but i tried to launch a few days ago and i dont know if i just suck at it or if its slipping because it wouldn't grab. but it drives fine so should i replace before my tune?
