Evo 8 Engine Swap ECU Question

Okay, so if I have a 2005 Evo 8 and I wanted to get a 2006 Evo MR engine would the ECU continue to work in it or would it need to be swapped? Just curious. If it needed to be swapped I wont even do it. Doesn't matter that much to me.

Thanks a lot.

i swap my evo 8 Mr Engine USDM to Evo 9 GSR ausdm

I loss the ACD
and just change the transmision plug coming from the Evo 9 harness was diferent..

and obvious you have to change the Engine Harness and ECU to control the Mivec engine.
that will be your best mod. in your evo 8 to do...

nothing like a evo 9 engine... THE BEST

I put an evo IX engine, harness, and ecu in my 05 evo 8. Like he said, you need the ecu and harness, but needing the IX ecu shouldn't be a deal killer, they're like $150 on here and take no time to swap. But probably not worth the gains for all the work done. I just did it because I had an extra IX longblock.
