So, I think I'm coming back
Well, I have owned a GTR the last 2.5 years... It's been great but it's damn expensive to own/track... Plus I hate the attention the car gets... But it's mainly the money... I also prefer the good ol stick shift but paddles really aren't bad so long as it's connected to the column and not the wheel... Nissan and Mitsu and Ferrari do it right lol.... The other thing I think is that I wanna get back into autoX and get into rally cross. The GTR can drag race (I never did) and do road courses(did about 4-5 a year)... But that's it.... The evo can drag/road race/rally and autocross and I'd use it in bad weather and can throw my kid in the back easier.
I bought one of the very 1st evo's on the east coast back in 2003. I still tell everyone to this day that the evo was the most fun car I've ever owned... I regret selling it...
So with money being tight I think I'm finally officially selling the GTR and going back to the evo.
On that note, I really wanted a evo 10 gsr and saw some used deals in the mid 20's and new in the low 30's.... But I have a buddy who has a stock (really stock, never modded, I've known the car over the past few years), 2003 evo 8 gsr, silver that he'd give me at a good deal. I will keep it stock, except tires, fluids, pads, clutch, and a skid plate.
I'm sure you've all had opinions on 4g63's vs 4b11's but I think th deal is good and buying a newer evo would be bad to rally. Anyhow, I'll be happy to be back!
Sorry for the long post

My friend also bought a GTR and sold his Evo, he has been wanting another evo ever since and i couldnt agree more on getting an 8 if your going to be rallying/road racing/auto..and if you ever sell it the 8s hold decent value.

Thanks, yea I knew Mark (KK, I think he was around here with his blue evo...rip)...
Im definetly getting an evo... I can get the evo 8 03 for about $15k...45k miles...I saw a 8MR with 60k miles for $19k (stock-ish? needs further investigation, clutch and bov) and a 08 X with 40k miles for $21k... I'll probably opt for one of the 8's due to rally... but I definetly miss the evo.. thoughts?
I will miss the GTR, but money is killer and I cannot go rallying or throw it around as much for fear of losing $70 grand...

Very good to know that you want an evo after the GTR experience. Shows that the evo does EVERYTHING well in all condition for less $$$.
I saw a post that GTR guy'S are shopping for other cars just to do lapping days and races because it's too expensive too maintain. Just buy and evo and be done with it... Theres a certain sentiment of joy when you know that your tires and pads didn't cost you 1000$ just for the weekend.
Good choice, for 15K it's a no brainer.
Now beat the hell out of it and go rallying.

Welcome back to the Evo fold... the GT-R is a great car, but its huge $$$ for mods/track days/insurance etc. For what you want to do, the Evo is almost certainly a better platform. Evo VIII with low miles sounds great!
