Weird engine sound in my Evo

I'll try to record it, but I'm at work, but I figured I'd ask.

Assuming it's attributed to it, I had recently had my car washed at the same place I usually take it to. I *think* that the car was left running when it went through the water/soap jets when they handwash it, if that has anything to do with it.

It was after that car wash when I noticed my car made a weird noise (not TC whine, as I watched YouTube videos of it and know that it's different) only in first gear between 2000-3000 rpm... it sounds like it's coming from the intake (not sure how to describe it, but if you make your voice soft but high-pitched and go "wooo," it kind of sounds like that, but I'll have to listen to it again), but below or above that rpm or even in the same rpm range but in a higher gear, the sound isn't there. Any ideas?

If it matters, my car is bone stock. I opened up the airbox just to check, and everything looks fine. Nothing looks different in the engine bay.

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Maybe your car is just happy to see you?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Hopefully someone will chime in with a real answer. Best of luck.

I'll record something on my way to work today. I tried recording yesterday after work, but it was kind of hard to hold my iPhone steady with the rpms viewable while not being obvious (as I don't want to get a cell phone ticket, haha).

Also, my car has around 39,400 miles on it, if that helps. Thanks again for the replies so far... even if they're mostly just jokes. :P

Maybe it's a ghost?

Could be. Perhaps it's the ghost of an STI or 911 driver.

Hopefully I'll record something on the way home and upload it then, since I need a wireless connection to do it.

I uploaded a video. It's not very good, since it was done with my iPhone (3GS, not 4) while holding it in my hand and trying to shift and hold the steering wheel straight. You can kind of hear the difference between first and second gear, but it's not nearly as audible as it is behind the wheel, so you may not even notice it, to be honest. I can tell you that it didn't sound like that before, though if it's nothing to worry about, then just let me know. I first described it as a "woo" but I may have been inaccurate in that description. Thanks ahead of time, let me know if I'm just being paranoid.
