This is the best thread in weeks! I get shocked so much I think I am a lightening rod. Watch, someone is going to chime in and start claiming Hyper ground wire kits will solve this problem!

I tried the static guard and it worked for me for about a month, but now the shock is back, little bastard. Time for another application. I don't think the smell is that bad, I didn't even notice it. I'm sure as the car ages it will actually improve the smell of the car.

its not from u rubbing ur feet on the ground its cause the car picks up charge from the tires, thats why when ur inside the car and u touch something metal u dont get shocked. Thats cause the charge only circulates on the outside of the car because its being picked up by the tires. if u dont ground urself and touch the door first i dont think u will get shocked. but if u have one foot on the ground and then touch the door u will get shocked. Thing to do is touch the metal part of the steering wheel then touch the outside of the door this way the charge goes right through u and u wont get shocked. =)

Its your clothes fella's. Do you wear the same fleece or something over your normal clothes? I use to get this for a long period of time in Grand Prix. Never have i got it in my Evo. My problem was my fleece. When i didnt wear the fleece, i never got it. You'll also notice this in cold weather. Static corresponds with weather changes and primarily, i believe colder weather.

i would touch my car in the GP and get it regardless. Even when i went to open my house door, id get a shock, as well.

really? cause when u walk u disapaid charge. usually when u get out of a car and the car shocks u but other things wont cause the car is whats charged not the driver. I guess it must be ur shoes or the charge is leakin in from the outside somewhere. Also if u jump out of the car(good luck trying this haha) without touching anything and land on the ground, then go and touch it i think u dont get shocked also.... but if ur gettin shocked elsewhere its cause ur charged which usually is because charge is leakin in from the outside of the car. It wouldnt be your shoes because the bottem is made of rubber and rubber is a poor conductor of electrons so charge disapaids rather quickly off of that surface and it doesnt collect enough to shock you.

See when you're sitting on your seat, especially the recaro's, which are made out of synthetic fibers, you begin to conduct a phenomenon called, "Static Electricity". What causes this phenomenon is friction! While you're in your EVO and driving you body tends to move around in the seat, which then causes a coefficient of friction (meiu). During this stage of friction electrons begin to envelop your body, and by the time you wish to exit the vehicle your body is covered with many excited electrons that have no where to go. Since cloth, shift knobs (aluminium), steering wheel (aluminium) or plastic cannot conduct electricy the electrons cannot escape your body. It is when you step out of your EVO and place your hand on the metal door is when the electrons are at its highest excitement. Then when your hand approaches the metal a SHOCk will occur, which then in turn gives the person a "shocking sensation".

What a bunch of worthless knowledge...Damn Physics.

thats true, but its usually not a large enough charge 2 give u a shockin sensation, especially not all the time. Its mainly due to the tires on the car picking up electrons and covering the outside of the car with a "shell of charge" the charge stays on the outside of the car, thats why the steering wheel doesnt shock you (ive been shocked by the steering wheel before so it definatly can shock you haha) but then u go 2 touch the ouside of the car, u get zapped cause all the charged is escaping towards you therefore you act as a ground. thats why when a electrical line falls on your car...uh...after you just hit a pole....yea... you stay inside the car. because all the charge runs along the ouside of the car, but if you touch say, the door... BzZzzzzzZzzZ.

to test this out you can drive around naked for about 5, 10 minutes in cold weather since thats when ppl tend to get shocked, come out and touch the door, you'll still get shocked.... by the way, do this in the middle of the night... and away from cops.. it tends to get weird when they pull you over and your naked...

I get shocked every time. I have not tried it without cloth's on, i think i'll try that out next summer when it's warm out in case of shrinkage
