Pedal question

Hey folks. Due to an accident a few years ago My left leg is paralyzed from the knee down and I have to wear a special brace on it so my foot doesn't flop around. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew of any aftermarket pedals that would be thicker to help accomodate my getting the clutch all the way to the floor. I thought about making something myself but I figured I'd ask here first. I'm pretty much pushing the clutch flat-footed and not pointing my foot to get it further down since I can't do that iwth my left foot.

Anyways, I've been looking at some aftermarket pedals, but wasn't sure how thick they were. I know its probably a wierd question but Like I said, thought I would ask here before trying to make something myself.

Have you looked into thos pedal cover type things from like autozone? They normally make the pedal a half inch or so thicker. Cheap if it would work.

Oh nice,no I didn't. I'll go down there and check it out today. Currently I'm guessing I'm getting the clutch about one inch from the floor. If I just push till my foot stops, its not enough to start the car so I have to push really hard bending my brace to get it down just enough to start the car. So when I'm driving, I have a feeling I would like to be able to push the clutch further. Of course the gears aren't grinding but I think a 1/2 in would really help. Thanks.

I totally don't care about cheezy at this point. I was thinking of either making something to slip over my shoe or something to slip over the pedal. Either way I can just spray paint it black or something. But yeah, I'll let you know.

I was determined to get a Evo X for the auto since my leg got messed up even though I liked the EvoIX more. But my uncle convinced me to try his old Z28 out and I found Although a little difficult I could do it. I went ahead and found a used EvoIX and forced myself to get used to it. SO far so good hehe.

Most auto upholstery shops have a welder. And, once you pull the rubber cover off, the rest of the pedal is steel. So, I'd think one of those places could rig you up something while being careful enough to not burn down your car.

To add to Barney's comment, a local machine shop may be able to make a pedal extension, if you will, that can be fitted perfectly to the factory pedal.

Thanks for all the advice. I went down the to Autozone and they didn't have what I was looking for. There is another further down the highway but didn't feel like going down there today. Anyways, adding a block to it somehow is what I initially was going to do, but all these ideas are good. I'll let you guys know what I end up doing. Will have to be tomorrow.

You can adjust the pedal to it's highest point, that would give you a half inch or so and build up the stop at the bottom instead. Don't know if that will help any.

It depends if it's your daily... or if someone will be using the car as well. If only you will be driving it most of the time, I would get it custom made at a machine shop. Have it made so height adjustments can be easily done with a couple of turns or just by adding spacers to it... somewhat like the clutch pedal adjustment.
