Lightbulb paint headliner or no?

so i have been contemplating on painting my headliner black. mine is very dirty and remembering when i used to detail cars, washing the headliner can cause it to sag or look bad. i used use special carpet spray paint for carpets we couldnt clean 100% . my question is this..

has anyone used any sort of carpet/fabric spray paint on the headliner? how does it look? last? etc

any input accepted n thanx

Mine would already be painted if I knew it wasnt going to be a PITA to get the headliner off the car and then reinstall it again.

i would suggest not painting it and just getting a new sheet of fabric and replacing it. but my experiences came from the 2G eclipse and the 2G 3000gt.

Please don't. It looks terrible IMHO. Check out this thread...you should be able to see some examples. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...re-thread.html

That may help you make your own decision. It'll take some hunting though.

i wouldnt just because it makes the car feel smaller on the inside, thats why the whole upper half is that creme color so it seems bigger. but thats just my opinion

definitely re-wrap...i painted mine and it came out horrible...i used fabric paint on the headliner and the paint would not go all the way through to the base of the headliner...so the black would only be on top and still look grey underneath....so i ended up wrapping it in material....

I painted mine. The interior feels a little different. Most cars have the tan headliner, regardless of interior color.

The black headliner is good though. But I recommend just wrapping it. I'll probably end up wrapping mine, but the fabric paint has held up pretty good so far.

it is a pain in the a$$ to take out the headliner....you have to take off the pillars, the handles, the sun shades, the sun shade holder, lights, and plastic tabs....and thats just to get it loose...the worse part is getting it out of the car...try and find the perfect angle to allow you to take it out with minimum bends...i took mine out from the front door

Yea don't paint it. Looks like crap since the paint doesn't go to the base of headline. Just have it wrapped in black cloth or suede .
