Horrible Noise When Braking Hard and Accelerating. SEE VIDEO INSIDE $20 :)?
First off how annoying is the way i typed each first letter in caps? lol
MY CAR HAS 13K MILES THIS ALL STARTED WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR AT 7,597 MILES .
. if someone tells me the correct answer to what it is..i will Paypal you $20 bucks
or if a shop is up to the challange please lmk. i am located in North NJ. i will travel
Okay so i have this problem with my car. I bought my car with a blown transmission in a 06 Evo ix MR SE. Got it for a great price and I had a shop that’s specializes with Evo’s swap in a transmission. Granted I never drove the car before this day that the trans was swapped in so I don’t know if the noise existed before the swap. The noise comes and goes but starts mostly when I brake kinda hard and also upon light acceleration after the hard braking. when i put the clutch in during acceleration the noise goes away but when i hard brake the noise is there no matter if my car is off or clutch is in our out..it doesn’t do it every single time I hard brake just like maybe 3/5 of the time.. it is defiantly coming from somewhere in the front left of the car..i think. This happens to be where the transmission is. When under light acceleration it does the noise in all the gears to my knowledge but cant really hear it in fifth probably b/c of road noise. The video posted of this consistant rattle does not do it justice to how loud it really is inside the car. So far to trouble shoot i have swapped out the front brake Pads, Rotors, Piston Caliper seals, taken off the brake dust shields, swapped in coilovers from the billsteins, , removed ABS sensor temporarily and still no luck on narrowing it down..its not an exhuast rattle and i think ive hit with a soft rubber mallet to make sure it was nothing loose.

I hate to say it, and I'm not trying to freak you out, but from what I hear in the video it sounds similar to my car after I spun a bearing. It could be the video though (it always seems to sound different in person). I don't hope I win the $20, for your sake. Best of luck.

just added this! i think it has something to do with the transmission but the braking thing is what throws me off..esspecially since my cars milage and no mods and the fact that ive switched out my entire braking system! lol i am mechanically inclined so its not like its a loose wheel or anything lol

bumping this back up..still nothing
i dont know what it is..im thinking improper clutch install..but then how do you explain that it starts up as soon as you hit on the brakes hard?!
grrrr damn this car

Unfortunately that video doesn't help me at all. Get a friend with a good cell phone on an empty road and give your time to get up to speed and have him record from the outside. Have you tried having someone else on the outside and see if they can hear it? Do you FEEL anything, like the car is diving? Hitting a dip? Going over a bump? Or is it just audible? Have you narrowed down everything brake related? You could do things like (if you really want to resolve it)...swap rotors/pads/calipers left to right, wheel bearings etc. The clutch issue is the interesting one...it's hard to tell from the video but I wouldn't think clutch.
