My car isn't starting.. HELP

A couple of days ago i went to the gym and when i finished my work out my car started but made a nasty noise. I turned the car off and tried to turn it back on, but the car wouldn't start. I asked my friend to see if he could push start me and boom! fired right up. I thought it might have been the starter, so I took mine and had it rebuilt. I installed the starter today and still nothing. The car starts sometime (turning the key 20+) but not all the time. Tried to push start it again, and it turned right on. I have a alarm system and auto starter on the car, don't know if that could be effecting anything. I've had the car for almost two years and no problems like this so far. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Once it's on it idles fine and there are no problems what so ever. It doesn't try to turn of or anything. I haven't checked that yet either.

It doesn't start with auto start either. Crank angle sensor will be checked today as well.

I'm gone check all connections. You guys think it could be a bad ground cable? If so where does the ground cable usually end up

Don't worry about the crank ange sensor, it would not run at all if that was the case I would check the battery, and any fuse/relay involving the starter

does your auto starter have a safety switch or somethn for the e brake if its not engaged and wont start, maybe a short or somehtn in that wire, or mechanism or whatever is used and is causing it not to crank, but i dont know why it wouldnt start using the key unless whoever installed the auto start installed it like that or somethin, but either that could be a possibility
