Just bought all new fluids, tell me what you think!

Oil- Mobil 1 15w50
Filter- Mobil 1 10-108
Trans - Penn Synchromesh
Tcase - Redline Heavyweight Shockproof
Rear Diff - Redline 75w90

getting a slight grind sometimes going into 4th, thats why I opted for the synchromesh, which I have found to be the same as GM synchromesh and furthermore the same as synchroshift.

ive also gathered 15w50 is the best synthetic Mobil 1 offers, carries an "SL" rating, and contains 1200ppm ZDDP

thoughts?

-I wouldn't run a 50wt in my stock block. Unless you running a FP Red or Black you don't need the high zinc and phos levels.

-Syncromesh FTW (Not sure it will fix your grind though)

-Redline fluids will be just fine

Not bad really just a little thick for OEM clearances IMO. It'll be fine if anything you may loose a few ponies

Jon at TRE recommended Redline 80-140 for t-case and rear end. I'm thinking the 75-90 was to thin. The Redline shockproof was good also if the car doesn't see cold weather.

I'd usually like to stick to stock fluids when it comes to the drivetrain or amsoil, but you should be fine with the oils you listed.

I thought that too but Jon knows his stuff. Go to TRE's website, lots of good info on there. I saw no MPG loss going from Diaqueen to the Redline 80w140. I also ran my best time at the track after the switch.

thoughts?
1) High zinc formula Amsoil motor oil is better than BOTH the old Mobil 1 blend which has been prooven to be inferior even to their (Mobil 1's) "advanced formula"

2) Oil filter choice is poor. the Mobil 1 has a nice housing, but poor filtration. Again, the Amsoil filter has a better media which filters to a smaller micron (you can search EvoM if you would like input on this)

3) Synchromesh isnt a great choice for the Evo transmission.

4/5) T-case/Rear diff: good choices.

I'm only pushing 350 to the wheels and installed a TRE stage 2.5 transmission, Jon reccomended the 75-90 on his built transmissions.

Also, I second the statement about Redline in the cold. And by "cold" I have had problems with temps from about 45 and below. Why deal with this issue at all? Use the Amsoil fluids and you have slightly better shearing protection without the cold weather issues. Apagan01 is a vendor on here and can hook you guys up with all the technical info if you want.

ok I returned 4 quarts of my 15w50 for 10w30. Keeping an extra 15w50 to make a cocktail mix, then switch to full 10w30 sometime before winter.

I may switch to everything amsoil next time, minus the transmission.

also, that article mentions that synchromesh is fine, if the proper weight is chosen. The page is dedicated to all mitsubishis, which is somewhat vague. I have read a lot of positive feedback from the switch, it just calls for sooner changes at every 10k...

im wondering about coolant now... probably need to do a coolant flush.
