Question stroker? or bigger turbo?

Hello every1 !

I have an ix MR, and it got around 380 whp, I'm planning to do some upgrading on it. I am between the bigger turbo or a stroker. I am planing to go up to 600-700 whp in the future, so that's why I thought about the stroker; because I knew that the bigger turbo will needs rods and pistons to give the obvious performance. I don't want to pay and work twice on the same parts for the car, so if I do the stroker now I'll have the bigger turbo sometime in the future.

what do you think guys? advices? recommendations?
with name of the parts and estimated prices please

If you only want to built the bottom end its 3050+ shipping and your core at BR. If the whole motor its about 5k+ but a motor is the smartest thing to do.

Depends on how you want the car to perform and what you would be using it for. In order to run a turbo that produces the power levels you desire you will obviously have to build the motor. You can get stroker motors that can rev to 9k or more that will work fine with a pretty large turbo. If it's mainly street driven I would take the stroker and moderately sized turbo combo over a big turbo 2.0 setup any day. A 2.4+FP Black setup properly on e85 would get you near the 600 mark pretty easily.

Before you go much over 400 whp you need to build your transmission. If you have a IX MR you have the 6-spd transmission which will grenade instantly at the power levels you are talking about. Shep offers a built 6-spd, or you can do what most of us with the 6-spd do and go with a built 5-spd swap. If you have already done the drivetrain upgrades then build the motor first.

so most of said that the stroker will be a good deal before the new turbo, but no one of you guys told me a name, is the AMS Stroker 2.3L Kit good enough? or is there is any other stroker better? my budget is under $5k

i say get a 2.4 motor br sells them and english racing sells them or you could go with map as well they are all just shy of 5k for the whole motor with your core of course. a 2.4 fp black will get you your 600+ i know as mine is there

Do you plan to buy a stroker kit and have a local shop (or yourself) assemble it, or plan to buy a completely built longblock? AMS is a top notch shop, but they are very expensive. Buschur also has an excellent reputation and offers a quality stroker kit.

Here is Shep's pricing...
http://www.sheptrans.com/transmissions/evo.htm

For a 6-spd to 5-spd conversion you are looking for $3500-$4000 for the trans. With a 600+ whp build you will need a built transfer case as well. About $2500 for a built TC with Quaife LSD.
