First off... have you ever done circuit racing at that power level? A bone stock Evo with a tune is a handful on a road course if you aren't marginally experienced, and 400+ whp is a LOT to handle. I wouldn't even remotely consider a 500 whp build for road racing unless you are already DE3-DE4/TT licensed. I'm not saying that you aren't... but a lot of people shoot for way more power than they need.
Ideally for circuit racing you will want better fuel (race gas/E85), more displacement (2.2, 2.3, 2.4L) and a turbo that has high response with that displacement. A big laggy turbo making "500 whp" on 91 octane with a 2.0L motor is going to do terribly on a road course. I would even guess that it would do worse than a stock turbo Evo.

Finally I have came across someone with some perspective on the internet. It makes me happy

I can't tell you how many times ppl want so much power in a car to take to a track without ever really driving on a track. Basically its an easy way to kill yourself
Driving in straight lines with 4-500whp is a totally different world when you need to turn and brake.
YES!!!!!

I wouldn't dream of putting a 500hp track car together. My car has just 100hp more than that with quite a bit more torque than a 2.0L and it's difficult keeping this thing in a straight line at 70mph.
Do the supporting mods, and go for power later. 350hp is more than plenty to keep you occupied while you work on the "driver mod."

A stock block evo with 500whp will not servive on the track....i will blow up at some point. Get a nice tune, keep the stock turbo and see what you can do with 350whp.
