Stock gearset limitations?

ive been searching for the better part of 2 hours now and maybe im doing it wrong but regardless, im not searching anymore i dont have time like that to sit around.

So you guys who are running bigger turbos and bigger power (550-650whp+ and 500wtq+) are you guys consistently ragging on the car? as in: autocrossing, dragging, circuits. Even the guys who drive hard on the street...
what have you done to your tranny/gearset? cryo treated? shot-peened? PPG's? dog-box? i was told recently that some guys are putting 650 to the ground and still run the stock box. I wont be running the stock gearset...i am going to get it at least cryotreated, but do you guys know if it will hold up to 700 hp and 500 tq at the ground on 109 and probably 550ish hp and 400ish tq on 93?

thanks fellas.

Horse Power Doesn't break a tranny, Torque does. So does shocking the Drive Train. Sometimes a Highly tuned Stock Turbo would shock the tranny more then a GT35R turbo becuase of the initial on-set of torque. The stock Turbo Spikes and shocks teh tranny if you are not careful while a larger turbo gradually rolls on the boost.

You were asking wether or not it could handle the WHP. I pointed out that it isn't the WHP but the Torque and the onset of it Buschur put nearly 1000WHP through his Stock 2003 Drivetrain and he obviously knew how to drive and drive it well.

1000whp?

where did you get that number? i have dynoed there a few times (his dyno is the lowest mustang ive ever seen) and i know Dave, the highest i know any of his cars have been was something like 749whp. regardless, my question still has not been answered (unless of course Dave himself comes in here and says, dont worry about, build the motor and let her eat!)

youre basically telling me hear-say. im not syaing youre wrong, dont mistake that. i just would like to hear the personal experiences of the guys who have.

if what youre saying is true, how do you explain the yellow CFT evo and other certain high HP powered evos that run stock boxes and rag on em on the 1320? my concern is that they actually dont have stock gearsets and just neglect to mention it on thier parts lists or whatever. im not breaking any reacords, but i am doing my own thing and i plan to break 700-750whp and about 500-550wtq maybe more, but the PPGs with the set-up i want is not suggested and the dog box is gonna be sh!tty to drive on the street everyday. plus the dog-box is 11K and im not ready to put that into a street car tranny.

752 WHP and 655 WTQ on a dynojet with 37 psi boost on a TO4Z and still haven't broken the gearbox a bit... I have put the car down the 1320 for more than 30 runs before and did a best of 10.6 with a single plate ACT that had trouble slow shifting and sometimes not shifting in each gear...THat was last year and already done with...I drove this blue evo 6 on the street and on the strip

I dun think you need to worry bout the box. Just get a triple carbon clutch and it will shift even with huge power.

In terms of stressing a Drivetrain, WHP isn't a factor as much as Torque, You keep asking if it is ok to run that MUCH whp and I keep saying that it is fine. Torque is what stresses a transmission. In terms of different gear sets, Buschur has Drag transmissions built up as well along with optimal gear sets.

ill talk to Buschur, i was unaware that they had gear-sets. i dont care about changing the gearing, maybe a taller final drive, but otherwise i just want something that can be beaten. thanks for the info.

IN fact I Don't, the gears are stock Mitsubishi. I didn't even harden them. Am thinking of sending it to Shepherd to upgrade it on my new setup though.
