evo 8 vs 9 gearset ratio

so i always thought every gear in the trans were different in the 8 vs 9 and the best gearset would be evo 9 1st an 5th and 8 2nd-4th but im looking at buying a new trans and some guy is selling one with what he says is the "ultimate gearset ratio" I asked him wat it was and he told me it has that ratio but that the evo 9 and the evo 8 have the same ratio on the 2nd gear is this true? can someone tell me the ratio for the 2nd gear in an evo8 and 9?

Imo not worth changing. Some use the longer 4th and shorter 5th to fill the gap past 120mph(7800rpms). It should help high speed acceleration some.

Yes 2nd is the same between the 2 boxes. The input shaft is the same '04+ and 5th gear interchanges between all of those. 03 and down use a different style input and 5th gear that are discontinued.

The Ultimate ratio would be

IX 1st
2nd from either
VIII 3-4
IX 5th for road course
VIII 5th for mileage
JDM RS 5th for ultra close control

We havent even began to discuss the FD options yet but that all plays into all of how I would select the ratios as well.

I'd like to know if its really worth getting the EVO8 3rd gear. I know I need 4th because I'm constantly running out of gear and don't like to bang 5th.

I'm probably going to tear my tranny appart and replace 4th gear but I'm not convinced about doing 3rd while I'm in there.
