Dealers are nagging me...
Dealers are nagging me...
So for a while now about once a month a sales dude from a Mitsu dealer has been nagging me about wanting to buy my IX to boost their "used cars inventory". Typical sales call, resulting in him telling me they'll get me in an X as well...
I assume that IX sells really well and they can put a good markup on the cars. Anyone else getting more of such calls recently? No way I'm parting with my IX (freakin' awesome car) and when I tell them this I can feel their deflation over the phone.

When I bought my VIII this February the dealer said he can't keep the 8 or 9 on the lot more than a week because of the popular body styles. He had a 08 GSR he had be trying to get rid of for months for $24,000 and still no one would take it. The 8 and 9 have the more popular body style. The X might as well be called "new" coke, because its still coke but I would much rather have original.
I tried my best to let a Dealer locate my IX when I had a Cobra and wanted an Evo. I ended up getting the run around and bought my IX used from a different dealer I had to drive over 100 miles to reach.
I'd never sell my IX unless I had another Evo lined up already. It was hard enough buying the damn thing, I'm not letting it go.
Also there's nothing quite like the resale value of an IX 5spd right now. I showed my Bimmer friends the autotrader page sorted cheapest to highest, and the cheapest car was 14K with 100k+ miles.
I just checked my KBB and after putting 12,000 miles since purchase, it's dropped a whopping $650 in value.

Yes same thing happened to me... Only they mailed me a letter... So I decided to mess with them too get a quote on my evo 8.. After all was said and done they actually offered me $29,500 for my 04 evo 8.. I did not take the deal. My car is extremely mint and basically new.. I only put 12,000 miles on it. But still it was a great deal for someone looking to do a trade or get some extra cash. Either way this offer was last November.

Same thing happened to me when I went to the dealer to pick up some crush rings. I came out of the parts dept to 3 sales guys huddled around my car. They asked me how much I paid for it since it still had the temp tags on and how many miles it had, then instantly said they would be able to buy it from me for more than what I paid and get me into a X. I just said no thanks, if I wanted a x I would have bought one in the first place.
Thats kind of funny. Id guess most the guys who are driving IX's could afford an X if they wanted seeings as the 08 X's are often selling for less than a nice IX.
So then it comes down to most people who has IX's have them because thats what they want..

Okay this is my opinion but the X's are ugly and boring... the 8,9's are more exotic and it gets my attention and many others aswell. So yes most peeps with 9's can get 10's but they choose not too. i have an 8 and i would not change too a 10 even if it was brand new. Just my 2 cents.
I had this happen once so far. Although we didn't talk specific numbers, the sales manager was VERY eager to get me back into the office to figure out a deal. They had 10 10's on the lot and no customers...
I have received letters and multiple calls from the dealership that I bought my IX from. I still have no desire to even find out what they will offer me because I don't want a X.
Right there with you, got an VIII with very low miles. Took mine to a dealership in TN to get some spacers and an alignment since I had pulled my dash. Few weeks later started recieving offers to buy my VIII. 4G63 FTW
