I dont know what it could be, but I did get a strange sound from my EVO like 2 weeks ago. I was driving in a parking lot at like 4 mph and it sounded like I was dragging something metal. So I got out and looking under my car and nothing was there. Then I started moving again and the sound was still there. This time I got out and searched everywhere around the car, under the car, the parking lot behind my car, and found nothing. I havnt heard anything since then, and I can't figure out what the hell made that sound.

i have the same problem, its when you're at a stop and you let go off the clutch and it sounds like a can rattling.... but that only happens when you go really slow. I took it to a dealer and the service manager said per his words "this is a sophisticated machine, the ecu is trying to get the maximum torque it can get and its knocking" basically i have no idea what bull**** he was telling me but i said to him thats fine, but if something breaks and you could've doen something to prevent it by fixing it now, its your *** and not mine when MMC comes after someone. In anycase if you want to get rid of that noise, dont feather your cluth, gas and clutch a little faster and you'd be fine.

Were you coasting in a straight line? You might hear the rear diff make a little noise if the car was in a sharp turn as you rolled to a stop. Clutch pack type limited slip diffs are really loud when they have the wrong fluid in them. Did you change it recently?

I think I might know.

First, it was raining or at least wet, right?

The brakes get surface rust really fast, like 5 minutes after exposure to water. When you move at low speeds, you can hear them, it's pretty scarry the first couple of times. It even caught me off guard yesterday as I was backing out. It sounded like there was a shopping cart behind my car that I had backed in to and was pushing. That's really waht I thought it was.

The dealer telling you that it was "knocking" was bull****. Tell him to replace your knock sensor then, because you aren't getting a check engine light. See what he says to that.

the only thing i have done is change the oil and that was at the dealer. I had them look at it and of course the noise was not heard when they checked it out. I lll just keep driving it if it gets worse ill take it in to get checked out.
