I'll say it again....when I drive back and forth to work its "time attack" baby everyday!! When I had the VIII and now with the X. I love just taking my Evo in the hills and windy roads like I'm in my own rendition of Initial D...of course I'm cautious though of other people....definitely not trying to run anyone off the road or trying to kill anyone....but the thrill of driving the evo always puts a smile on my face
Owning a specific car doesn't automatically make you a 'racer'... no matter if its an EVO or a Porsche GT3 RS. You have to actually RACE your car to be a racer.
I know people who drive $500 LeMons cars that blow the doors off $100k so called 'race cars' all day long. Its not the car so much as the driver.

Agreed the car has many uses and although I do track mine, I still love just taking out on the back roads by myself. Its nice to be able to stop on dime, turn like, and just have a little fun. Its all about the little things...
As far as crash testing goes I dont think the EVO is unsafe in any way. It turns, stops, accelerates better then anything which is extermely useful in a lot of potential crash situations and out of all the postings of wrecked EVO's I have seen never heard anything about anyone getting injured.. Not saying it doesnt happen but there have been some serious wrecks posted here on the forum and the passenger compartment always seems to fair pretty well... and of course the wing

The EVO is not a true sports car, by definition. It's original form was a Lancer (i.e. family cruiser).
Although it no doubt does perform better than most any other sports cars on the market.
You don't have to do any organized racing to enjoy the car. I have fun just sitting in the drivers seat.

I love my evo. It gets me to school, work, and back home. I don't track my car because the closest track is ~5 or so hours away. I love driving it on the open mountainous roads. I also love looking in my rearview mirror and seeing the all the traffic behind me. A lot of people have asked me why I don't race I always tell them I don't feel like crashing my car over to see who's faster People ask me everyday why I don't race my good friend who owns an STi, and I tell them find me a track.
To answer your question I say no.

I drive my Evo ALL THE DAMN F#CKING TIME because I can't stand to drive anything else.
Go to the grocery store? Evo
Go to the movies? Evo
Go to work? Evo
Go auto-x? Evo
Go to the dragstrip? Evo
Go to Grandma's house? Evo
Go on a road trip? EVO!!!
Why would you not want to drive the Evo? Who cares if you don't race it. My other cars though have a lot less miles.
