Fair enough.

Also, im not sure I understand your logic on "baking" the dirt in...
Wouldnt a car cover be doing the same thing? Im just isolating the cover to the spoiler...
A car cover isn't a great solution, either. It's just too easy to mar the finish by using one on a less than pristine car, as the act of putting it on and taking it off forces whatever is on the surface to rub against the paint. Really, the best way to go is to clean the paint and then use a durable sealant for protection. By that I mean, Klasse Sealant Glaze (not easy to use), Duragloss 105 (very easy to use), Collinite 915 or 476s, and Finish Kare 1000P.

Yeah go with the UV protectant clear coat. The car cover thing gets old, fast. Also, try to realize your car is gonna age no matter what.

Try 303 Aerospace protectant, I've used it on my spoiler and headlights and both are in great condition (03 evo, parked outside everyday since new). Granted, I don't live in Arizona, but it still gets its share of sun.

I wouldn't agree that the towel is a good heat insulator...making it worse than leaving the sun to bake it, it should certainly be cooler than the absorbtion from the sun.

ps...OP your slightly crazy

This is not a true statement. The "clear coat" on the wing is a gel clear coat that is used in the manufacture of composites. The clearcoat on the car is a spray coat applied and formulated for painted surfaces.

OP congrats for having pride of ownership, but I would recommend either doing what you can with some of the protectants that some of the people have listed, or just coming to terms with the fact that the car will age and you will fix what you need to as it comes up. Without picking on of these two alternatives, your car will start to be a chore because of the tasks that you put on yourself when driving the car...

haha, I have a friend that has taken his wing off so it doesnt fade. While the wingless look has grown on me, and I am wingless now, he still hates. Although, he refuses to put it back on so it doesnt fade.

This is all coming from a guy who also bought a cheap set of leather recaro knock-offs so he can take his evo 8 recaors out so they dont get tore up.

Give me a F*****G break!!

I think that folks do take extra precautions; I certainly do and that's why my paint/CF looks better than showroom. Literally, and it's not like I slow down for ****. This being said, the "extra precautions" can mean many different things, some effective and unobtrusive and others, well, ridiculous.

Do you use a white towel to help reduce heat?
