Need Info! M3 to Evo ...

I apologize in advance if this is information that I can find already somewhere on the site!

What is the average purchase price? What should I be paying from a dealer? Minnesota region.

Any recommended dealers in this region?

Are there lowering springs that have a more progressive or softer rate available? These things make my M3 feel like an Eldorado!

Thanks in advance-

Michael

There have been numerous people on this board that have switched from M3 to Evo, maybe they will speak up on there likes/dislikes. Right now would be the best time to buy an Evo since it arrived last Feburary. Dealers are trying like crazy to get rid of the '03 Evos. MSRP is $28,???, and I would not pay a dime over that price-if you find a willing dealer, you may be able to find it for much less. As for suspension, there are lots of setups you can go with. I know Tein has adjustable dampening in their shocks, and I think JIC does too. With those setups you can have a soft ride, or a rock hard race ride.

Oh don't I know it! I have an M3 and have driven the EVO twice. I am not sure I could drive the car for 3 hours straight to my cabin! This is why I asked about a different spring package. And by the way I am not a wimp! The Evo is a brick-

i switched from 2003 M3 to 03 Evo

Do I have regrets? Maybe...my heart does beat a little faster everytime I see an E46 M3 on the road...that is one damn sexy car

I'll tell you this though, whatever the Evo lacks in looks and luxury, it MORE than makes up for in terms of fun. Sure I enjoyed driving the M3 through the twisties, but the Evo takes it to another level. The seats...the shifter...suspension...steering feedback...absolutely unreal.

Tein springs give a nice ride. $159-179 shipped.

Michael,

I cant help you with dealers in Minnesota. But I CAN tell you that I paid mid $27K for mine and it was somewhere between actual dealer cost and invoice. Sticker on mine was $30900.

As for the suspension, I traded a 2001.5 Audi S4 for this EVO, SO I FEEL your pain. This is like riding in a log truck in comparison. I immediately switched the tires for some Sumitomo HTR+ for the snow and that helped a lot. You might consider some Tein FLEX coilovers with the EDFC electronic adjustable dampening package. I have 18 inch rims on the way and I am considering doing that.

Cheers

JaMa
